Chapter 1.4

Llyr got up and turned to leave with not so much as a thank you or good bye.  Massoud took another drink of his Kaldone Ale and savored the taste as he reflected on the plan he had just set in motion.  He knew Llyr was a bit wild and would be hard to control if he did not give her the constant attention she needed.  Fortunately her part here was relatively minor and soon there would be little damage she could do.  The ale was all too soon empty and he was just considering ordering another, after all he had the time, when the door opened and two very large fellows walked in.

Taking the distraction as entertainment and a chance to prolong his decision on ordering another Ale or moving on he watched them.  Typical highlanders he thought to himself.  Quick tempers every one of them.  Quick to anger, quicker still to a fight.  Their history had been a sad affair until forces from outside came in and began to organize them.  No doubt they would have been destined to endless tragedy otherwise.  He laughed because this was the thought of one of the outsiders.  Still he knew there were many in the government who would not now disagree with him.  All that had changed a mere hundred years ago and now they were in a good position to rule the world, and the right person.  He let the thought hang as the two men made eye contact with him, nodded to each other and started walking towards him purposefully.
