Beinn Chapter 3.7

Duilach glided slowly down the back alleys.  To look at him it would appear like he were just another half drunk highlander looking for some place to settle down for the evening.  He was walking slowly though because he had much to think about.  The pressure from his contact was disturbing, not because he was worried about being able to complete his contract, but something else.  It troubled him too and that was why he was walking the streets.  Something no longer felt right, and when did that start?  Taking down the first one, what was his name?  Roy, that was it, seemed to go well enough.  True he hadn’t slit his throat but the man had been quite dead.  He stopped as the hair on the back of his neck stood on end.  He had a sixth sense for this type of thing.  It was one of the things that made him so good at his job, and it had kept him alive for how long now?
All of a sudden he had begun to second guess himself and that had happened only once before.  That was almost ten years ago and it had cost him dearly.  He remembered deciding then and there never to leave anything to chance, and there was a loose end now wasn’t there?  It only took a second to decide on his next course of action.  He began to stroll, seemingly aimlessly as he pondered the next decision.  Smiling and nodding his head he turned and picked up his pace just a bit, but not so much that he would draw attention to himself.  First he would take out the foreigner and then he would track down the other and take his head completely off his body.  This would all be done before the night was over.
